Panchang: tithi, nakshatra, yoga & karana for any date
Panchang means ‘five limbs’ — the five elements that describe a calendar day in Vedic timekeeping: tithi (lunar day), nakshatra, yoga, karana, and paksha. This tool computes all five for any date at your saved location, from the Moon and Sun's actual positions rather than a printed table.
What is a tithi?
A tithi is a lunar day — the time it takes the Moon to gain twelve degrees on the Sun, close to but not exactly one calendar day. A lunar month holds thirty tithis: fifteen in the waxing Shukla Paksha, fifteen in the waning Krishna Paksha, each with its own classical character and use.
Why doesn't this show Rokuyō (六曜)?
Rokuyō is a Japanese lunisolar calendar cycle with its own counting rules, not derived from the Sun and Moon's angular positions the way tithi and nakshatra are. Showing it correctly needs a lunisolar calendar implementation rather than the ephemeris-based angular math this tool is built on — so it's left out here rather than approximated and risk being wrong.
