The birth chart is cast once, for the moment of birth, and describes the whole life. Varshaphala is cast fresh each year, for the moment the Sun returns to its natal degree, and describes that specific year — its own ascendant and planetary placements, read as a chapter within the larger chart rather than apart from it.
Why does the exact moment of the return matter?
The ascendant changes roughly every two hours, so the annual chart's houses depend on solving for the precise minute the Sun crosses its natal degree, not an approximate date. This tool searches for that exact moment using the same Swiss Ephemeris calculation behind the birth chart, rather than approximating from the calendar date alone.
