Returns and Cancellation Policy

When an appraisal or session may be cancelled, what is refunded at each stage, and how refunds are paid.
What this policy covers
This policy applies to paid appraisals and paid sessions. The free tools on this site involve no payment and therefore no refund; you may stop using them at any time.
Because appraisals are prepared individually for one person and one set of questions, the work has no resale value once begun. The bands below exist to divide that cost fairly rather than to discourage cancellation.
Written appraisals
- Before preparation begins
- Full refund of the fee paid.
- After preparation begins, before delivery
- Refund of the fee less the portion attributable to work already carried out, up to a maximum retention of 【TO BE COMPLETED】% of the fee.This percentage must be set against real average cost before publication. Under Article 9 of the Consumer Contract Act, a retention exceeding the average damage actually suffered is void to the extent of the excess — so an unreasoned figure is unenforceable.
- After delivery
- No refund on the basis of disagreement with the interpretation offered. A full refund is made if the appraisal was not delivered, was delivered in a form you cannot open or read, or was prepared for the wrong birth details through our error.
Live sessions
- More than 48 hours before the session
- Full refund, or rescheduling at no charge.
- Within 48 hours of the session
- Rescheduling once at no charge where possible; otherwise a refund less up to 【TO BE COMPLETED】% reflecting the reserved time and preparation already done.
- Non-attendance without notice
- Treated as a same-day cancellation. Please contact us if something prevented you from attending — genuine emergencies are accommodated.
- Cancelled or postponed by us
- Full refund, or rescheduling at a time that suits you, entirely at your choice.
How refunds are made
Refunds are made by the same route the payment arrived by, wherever that is possible, and are initiated within 【TO BE COMPLETED】 business days of the cancellation being confirmed. Transfer fees charged by an intermediary or receiving bank are outside our control and may reduce the amount that reaches you.
To cancel, or to raise a concern about work already delivered, write to 【TO BE COMPLETED】. Please include the name the booking was made under and the date of the session or the date the appraisal was commissioned.
If we cannot resolve a complaint between us, you may take it to a local consumer affairs centre (消費生活センター), reachable in Japan on the Consumer Hotline 188. Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights.
